Advancing Education Through Environmental Literacy
This free publication and CD-ROM focuses on how education and the environment can be linked to advance student learning. Included are descriptions of schools successfully implementing environmental education programs and summaries of research documenting how schools have raised test scores of their students by using the environment to help teach content in subject areas such as social studies, science, reading, and math. The CD-ROM provides a sampler of 43 free EE activities which are linked to different grade levels and subject areas. Produced by the Environmental Education & Training Partnership (EETAP) in collaboration with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. Minority Environmental Leadership Development Initiative (MELDI)

MELDI is a project of the University of Michigan's School of Natural Resources and Environment (SNRE). The project aims to enhance the leadership and career development opportunities available to minority students and minority environmental professionals. The project seeks to provide information that will help more minority students embark on careers in the environmental field. It is also designed to help minority students and professionals in the environmental field take advantage of networking and mentoring opportunities. Though the website focuses on minorities, it provides information that will be useful to all students and environmental professionals.

National Education And Environment Partnership

The mission of this newly formed Partnership is to build connections between leaders of
the environmental education and the broader education community, and policymakers at the federal, state and local levels. The National Education and Environment Partnership (NEEP) believes that environment-based education is an authoritative, rigorous and effective vehicle for improving the overall performance of K-12 schools, students and teachers. NEEP will also be identifying opportunities for environmental and environment-based education in new and existing state and federal programs. NEEP is a project of the National Environmental Education & Training Foundation and the U.S. EPA's Office of Environmental Education with additional support from the Gund and AT&T Foundations.

No Subject Left Behind
The National Environmental Education and Training Foundation (NEETF) has produced an online document - No Subject Left Behind - to Guide local and state leaders and practitioners to some of the major sources of funding for environmental education programs in President Bush's No Child Left Behind (P.L. 107-110) education plan. No Subject Left Behind is a living document that will be updated as additional EE opportunities are identified.

Ohio Academy of Science

“The Academy is the leading organization in Ohio to foster curiosity, discovery, and innovation and to unite all who value education, science, engineering, technology, or their applications for the benefit of society. The Academy conducts an annual meeting and science days, and publishes an international, multidisciplinary, scientific journal.”

OAS also offers Scholarships to Ohio students admitted to State and private colleges and universities who can demonstrate their knowledge and commitment to careers in environmental sciences or environmental engineering. An Academy-appointed panel selects awardees.

Ohio Collegiate AG Educators (OCAGE)

Students interested in careers in agriculture and natural resources now have a team of two- and four-year colleges working together to help them find a perfect fit. OCAGE is a consortium of 10 Ohio colleges and universities providing students the chance to learn about more than 80 programs available to them in agriculture, horticulture, natural resources, and the environment.

Ohio Society of American Foresters
The Mission of the Society of American Foresters is to advance the science, education, technology, and practice of forestry; to enhance the competency of its members; to establish professional excellence; and to use the knowledge, skills, and conservation ethic of the profession to ensure the continued health and use of forest ecosystems and the present and future availability of forest resources to benefit society. Student chapters are located at The Ohio State University and Hocking College.

Reaching Non-Science Teachers
The results of a focus group study released by EETAP confirm the challenge that environmental educators face when trying to reach non-science middle and secondary school teachers. In general, environmental education (EE) appears to these teachers to be associated most often with current environmental issues or as an extension of science. Science.gov

A new government online source of reliable information about Science and technology from across federal government organizations is now available. Fourteen scientific and technical information organizations from10 major science agencies have collaborated to create science.gov. , the "FirstGov for Science" web site. From science.gov, users can find more than 1,000 government information resources about science. Science.gov is intended for the educational and library communities, as well as for business people, entrepreneurs, agency researchers and anyone with an interest in science. The Federal organizations participating in science.gov are the Departments of Agriculture, Commerce, Defense, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, and Interior, along with the Environmental Protection Agency, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and National Science Foundation.

Teaching Sustainability- Towards Curriculum Greening.
This book, published in cooperation with the University Leaders for a Sustainable Future (ULSF), documents a wide range of works undertaken in respect of sustainability teaching, with inputs from various authors from countries as varied as Brazil, Germany, Latvia, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, The Netherlands, UK, Canada and the United States. The descriptions of approaches, methods and projects show how different universities in various parts of the world are facing the challenge of teaching sustainability concepts.
